If you need to have surgery in a private hospital, a date can be allocated at the time of your initial consultation if all necessary investigations have already been done by your GP. Alternatively, you can take time to think it over and give us a phone call to arrange a date when you feel ready.

Dr Clarke performs joint replacement operations and arthroscopic shoulder and knee surgery operations at the Sunshine Coast University Private Hospital in Birtinya.

If you are in a lot of pain, you may wish to have the surgery as quickly as possible, in which case we will find you the first available surgery date, or you can plan a date down the track which works best for you in terms of taking leave from work and having family/friends around to support you.

Please note that Dr Clarke is no longer able to do “intermediate surgery” through the public hospital system. Also he cannot book a patient for surgery through the public system but will be able to refer them for an appointment to be assessed and possibly booked for surgery at the public Orthopaedic Outpatient Department.

Surgery gap fees

Out of pocket fees will vary according to the complexity of the procedure. You will be given an “Estimate of Fees” when surgery is booked. Patients who have previously had surgery with Dr Clarke will not be charged a gap for all further surgical operations on the same joint or other joints. There are no gap fees for DVA and WorkCover patients. Patients without private cover can request a quote for the procedure.
