Dr Clarke has retired from clinical practice. Your GP will be able to refer you for ongoing care if required to another orthopaedic surgeon.

Dr Clarke would like to thank all his GP colleagues for their support over the years as well as his many patients for the privilege of treating them over the last 24 years.

Biography

Dr Clarke’s main interests are shoulder and knee surgery.

He has performed over 2000 knee replacements, 3000 shoulder arthroscopies and 6000 knee arthroscopies in the last 25 years.

Dr Allan Clarke qualified as an Orthopaedic Surgeon in 1991. He holds specialist certification in Orthopaedic Surgery from the College of Medicine of South Africa (FCS), the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (FRCSC) and the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS).

Dr Clarke commenced private practice in Canada in 1991. In 2001 he relocated to Australia and was appointed as Director of Orthopaedics for the Sunshine Coast Health Services District before commencing private practice at the Sunshine Coast Private Hospital in 2005.

Dr Clarke strives to stay abreast of the latest developments in shoulder, knee and hip surgery. He has been a speaker and surgical instructor at local and international Orthopaedic meetings. He attends a shoulder or knee training course at least once a year. Dr Clarke has been particularly encouraged and excited by the understanding and advances in the management of shoulder problems in the last decade.

Dr Clarke believes that patients should have a clear understanding of their orthopaedic problem and specific goals of treatment in order to be an active and effective participant in their rehabilitation program. Dr Clarke strives to work closely with both the patient and their rehabilitation therapists to ensure an optimal surgical outcome for his patients.
